Pay Your Bills in Minutes – Without Checks, Envelopes or Stamps

December 15th, 2009       Author: Chris Sully

My mission with JumpstartMyPC.com, from day one, was to provide PC users with ways to get the most out of their computer.  I started with a list of the tips, tricks, topics and programs that I used personally and then went from there.  Somehow, I left one of my absolute favorite services off of that list and I am going to remedy that today.  Maybe I forgot about it because it is so easy to use or because it has been part of my life for so long now.  Either way, I hope you will also benefit from the life-changing benefits of the services available at PayTrust.com.

LogoPayTrust is a total bill management service that allows you to use your computer to pay every bill you have in a timely, efficient way.  Now, I know what many of you are going to say.  “My bank offers a bill pay service and I use that.”  Banks or biller sites only offer partial bill pay solutions.  With Paytrust, all of your bills can arrive online and be set up for manual or automatic payment. You can gain peace of mind from not losing paper bills, and not missing or being late on payments. (taken from the PayTrust web site).

Take a minute to read the rest of this article and you will see why PayTrust is unlike any bill pay service you have seen/used before.

The Way it Works

  1. Your bills go to PayTrust - That’s right!  Electronic, Physical.. it doesn’t matter.  A private P.O. Box is set up for you and your bills go there.
  2. PayTrust opens, scans and logs all of your bills – They do all of the work.  You just sit back and wait on step 3.
  3. PayTrust notifies you -  You receive an email, stating that you have a new bill, or PayTrust lets you know that the bill has been paid (This part is up to you).  Review a scan of the actual bill, right from your computer.
  4. You choose how much to pay and when to pay it -  Simply fill out a few blanks and click pay.  PayTrust does the rest.  You don’t write checks, hunt for envelopes or bother with stamps.
  5. Your bills are paid

Benefits

  • You don’t have to worry about ordering checks, buying envelopes or hassling with stamps (and their ever-changing face value)
  • Choose which bills are paid automatically upon receipt.  This is great for bills like water, cell phone, high-speed internet, etc. that don’t change much from month-to-month.  For others, like credit cards and electricity, choose to review before paying.
  • PayTrust will notify you if they don’t receive a bill from one of your “payees.”  Never worry about missing a bill or payment again.
  • Pay recurring costs like car notes and mortgage payments without ever thinking about it again.  Set up a recurring payment and let PayTrust do the rest.  They are never late.
  • CREDIT SCORE – This is huge.  Your credit score is determined by your ability to pay your bills and pay them on time.  With a service like PayTrust, your credit score will improve.
  • Cost – PayTrust is only $12.95 a month (for up to 25 transactions).  Total up the cost of checks, envelopes and stamps and you are only paying a few dollars a month difference.  Your time is much more valuable than the remaining cost.

I could go on and on about the benefits, but you should see the rest for yourself.  I have been using this service for 10+ years now (since it was called PayMyBills.com) and I could not be happier.  In that time, I have paid thousands of monthly payments, improved my credit to almost perfect and slept better every night.  Now, it is your turn.  Head over to PayTrust.com and begin your 30-day FREE trial of their service.

If you have ANY questions or concerns about PayTrust, leave a comment below or contact us here at JumpstartMyPC.com.  We will be happy to answer your questions about this service and if we can’t, we’ll see if we can help you find the answer you are looking for.

Chris – I agree that PayTrust starting out as Paymybills was a great service. Then they sold to Metavante who really screwed the software up, and when Metavante sold to Intuit I was hoping they would get the issues resolved. But sadly, while it is an economical service I cannot tell you how many problems we have on a daily basis. I use them for my personal and business accounts. So many times they notify you of an “unassigned bill” even though in the past they have been able to assign them correctly. I suspect it is a minimum wage employee scanning the bills and not taking the time to locate the account and assigning it, so like Microsoft they want the end user to do their work for them. Secondly numerous times they enter the incorrect amounts as the due portion. Sometimes the electronic transfer feature works and sometimes it does not. Their customer service is a lot to be desired as well. Some knucklehead decided to move the date that the bill was actually received by Paytrust to the Payees section probably to hide the fact they did not scan it in time. The original owner of the service did a great job, as in many cases the current owners have really messed up the original idea. So much so, I have even thought of creating my own bill paying service and knock their socks off with actual software that works! I only stay with them as I have been with them for more than 10 years and dread the hassle of changing all of my bill addresses and at the end of the day with the current shortcomings it is still better than no service of its kind. I just wish they would get their act together. Being in Sioux Falls you would think the quality of their personnel would be better in a smaller community. Good luck if you have 100+ payees as we do in the small business edition.

@Dj : I have also noticed some of the “unassigned bill” issues, especially with local utility companies and smaller businesses. Makes me wonder if these are manually assigned or done by some scanning and recognition program. Either way, it is frustrating.
You have some interesting points from a business perspective. I thought that a company like Intuit would have come in and rebuilt this great service, but it seems that they have really only “skinned” the landing page since taking over.
With any luck, your comments will make it to someone at Intuit and have some impact. In the mean time… I am with you. It is much too difficult to switch companies.
