FollowFriday – Friday, March 26, 2010

March 26th, 2010       Author: Chris Sully

FollowFriday : On any given Friday, thousands upon thousands (maybe even millions) of Twitter users enter the hashtag #FollowFriday (or #FF), followed by one or more “mentions.” The idea is for users to share the names of other “interesting people” that they follow and think you should too. These recommendations serve as positive comment cards for the digitally inclined.

JumpstartMyPC.com has decided to bring FollowFriday to our blog. Read on and, if you are so inclined, add these “interesting people” to your own list.

FollowFriday – Round 5

StumbleUpon.com is “one of the biggest names in social discovery” (quote from mashable.com).  Basically, stumbleupon.com is a way for users to find out about new and  interesting sites that match their interests.  Have you ever found yourself sitting at the computer, thinking “what should I look at today?  Are there any great sites that I don’t know about?”

With stumbleupon.com, and the stumbleupon toolbar, one click of the mouse will bring up a new site.  “Like it” if that is something that interests you or give it a thumbs down if that is really not your cup of tea.  The service is FREE and it is something that I use every day.  Let this digital matchmaker introduce you to something new on the web.

StumbleUpon is Your Digital Matchmaker

Switched.com covers the intersection of the digital world with entertainment, sports, art, fashion and the coolest gadgets for everyday living.  Similar to Engadget.com and Gizmodo.com, this site follows and reports on the latest techno-trends and devices.  They post several new articles each day and add their own brand of humor (which I happen to appreciate) to liven up the details.

If you are in the market to purchase a new device or software, Switched is a great place to search before you purchase.  Articles and comments can give you a very clear picture of the product before you spend your hard-earned cash.
