Last week I posted an article titled Manage Your Growing Disc Collection, in which I talked about physical storage of home movies, music CD’s, etc. While researching and organizing my own collection I came across my copies of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 (on Blu-Ray) and realized that I had not taken advantage of my FREE Movie Ticket offer. Realizing that the release of the latest installment of the Toy Story franchise was only days away, I immediately followed the instructions provided and, within minutes, I was printing our tickets to see Toy Story 3. As it turns out, there is more than one way to get these FREE tickets, and I want to share the details with the JumpstartMyPC.com audience.

As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, I am a TV junkie. The problem is not that I spend too much time watching television or that I ignore other parts of life because of it. The problem is much worse. I am also a gadget junkie and an HD snob. Yes, I am willing to admit it. If a program is available in HD, I must have it over the standard definition option. If there is a new DVR or device that allows me to watch TV and/or movies on the go, I want it. These three problems mixed together have caused my cable bill to inflate steadily over the last decade and I have grown sick and tired of the bottom line. There has to be a better way and I think I have found it.

Over the last few years, you’ve slowly upgraded your existing setup to include high-speed internet and Wi-Fi. You can take your laptop anywhere in the house and surf the internet with ease. Unfortunately, your old printer still has you tied down. You bought it before Wi-Fi was available in everything and you’ve since stocked up on ink, so you really don’t want to invest in a new printer. Luckily, there are some options that make it easy to “cut the cord” and begin printing wirelessly at home.

Our goal here at JumpstartMyPC.com is to help PC users get the most out of their computer. We’ve mentioned this in many of our articles, but I often look back on this mission statement to make sure that we are providing you, the readers, with valuable, useful information. I also make sure that the products, gadgets, software and sites we recommend are something that I would or have used myself for some time. Today I bring you a site that I have been watching for some time. Groupon.com
Groupon.com is a “daily-deal” type site, but with a twist. The deal is a coupon for a local business that is only valid when there is enough interest from the group (thus the name Groupon). Luckily, for the majority of our readers, Houston is one of the cities featured on the site. Here is how it works. A new “item” is posted each day and site visitors can decide whether they want the deal or not. When enough people commit to a purchase of the item, “the deal is on!” The time counts down (since the deal is only good for one day) and anyone else can jump in before it expires. The idea is fabulous, but the execution is even better. Here are some of the top reasons that Groupon.com is a must-add for your favorites:

Well, today is a BIG day. According to every web site I have been on (that is a lot), today is the last day for you to make any online purchases and have any chance at all of receiving the item(s) before Christmas day. For all you procrastinators out there, it is your time. Time to step up or you’ll find yourself fighting the masses at the brick-n-mortar stores. I do NOT envy you if you decide on the second option.
In case you have purchased or will need to purchase any holiday gifts for that “techie” in your family, there are some things you might want to be aware of, before you actually hand over the gift for unwrapping. I, being a techie myself, was unaware that anyone had put any real thought into this, but it turns out that my friends over at CNET (fantastic site for any computer lover) put together a little video for you to review. Some estimates I have heard recently indicate that 50-75% of all shopping will be done online this year. Now, those numbers are simply estimates until the holiday season is over, but I think the rest of the world is finally catching on to the deals and time savings that can be had from web browsing and not window browsing. All I have to say is “it’s about time.” For regular readers of the JumpstartMyPC.com blog, you are probably thinking “here he goes again with the online shopping talk.” Some will stop reading right about now, but for those of you who still have shopping to do AND like to save money in the process, here is the latest discovery in my holiday shopping series. I recently stumbled onto one of the best sites I have ever visited and I wanted to share it with you all. The site is LogicBUY.com.

The flood gates are open and here they come. Looks like the day before Thanksgiving has become the digital version of the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday). This week it just seems impossible to get away from the Holiday Gift shopping discussion. I finally decided this morning that I would just give in and make this week all about shopping and where to find some great deals. After all, who wouldn’t want to know where to find the best bargains on the internet.
Yesterday, we talked about comparing Black Friday ads with online deals in our article titled Stay Home on Black Friday – Get Better Deals Now! Today we will focus on a different kind of bargain shopping. In the event that you don’t know exactly what you are looking for, there are some sites that have great bargains on a range of items. By watching/checking these sites regularly you might find a unique idea for that special someone this holiday season.

A few weeks ago we began covering the 2009 Holiday Shopping season with our article Slow and Steady Wins the Holiday Shopping Race. For those of you who read the article and have been receiving great information on bargains and Black Friday ads, Good Job!!! You no doubt have your game plan for Black Friday outlined. For those of you who haven’t even thought about all of this madness yet, don’t fear… We are here to help you get back on track.
If you are planning on heading out on Black Friday, you will most likely purchase a newspaper with all of the local ads on Thursday. This will give you and the family a chance to look through all of the ads and decide which store you should go to. The only problem with this is you won’t be able to do much comparison shopping between Thursday and Friday, so do you know if you are even getting the best deal? What if a web site had the same deal or better and could keep you from waking up at 3am and standing in the cold or rain (it is going to be 45 degrees on Friday morning in Houston, TX)?
