Kicks – The Coolest Thing You Didn’t Know You Needed

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Every so often, an idea comes along that makes you think “I never realized I needed this before, but I have to have it now.”  For me, the latest of these profound moments came in the form of a new invention from my friends over at BlueLounge called simply Kicks.

“Protect your iPad or tablet without hiding its beautiful design with our Kicks: Small, thin, silicone-rubber rails that prevent your iPad from slipping, scratching and damage. The protective rails run along the backside, providing minimal safekeeping for your valuable life tool. Adheres to your device using 3M Damage-Free adhesive. Easy to use and apply, even comes off without leaving any marks.” – BlueLounge product page.

I found out about Kicks earlier this week and quickly placed my order.  At $11.95 (plus shipping) for 2 pairs, these great new add-ons won’t break the bank and the BlueLounge track record made clicking on the Buy Now button a no-brainer.  I’ve already purchased several items from their catalog, including the CableDrop (featured here), CoolFeet and Refresh.

When Will the iPhone REALLY Work in My Car?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This is NOT another article about the weaknesses of the AT&T network, but an open-letter to Apple and electronics manufacturers everywhere.  When will the iPhone work in the place I really need it… the car?  Sure, you can use the iPhone in your car, but when can I begin to use it as THE device in the car?

The iPhone and iPad seem to be everywhere.  Try going out or turning on the TV without seeing a commercial, hearing a reference or actually seeing someone using one of these great devices.  While the iPad is still very new and only 1,000,000 have been sold (there is a little sarcasm there), the iPhone has had years to make the rounds and find it’s way into the hands of over 50 million users (taken from TechCrunchies).  The numbers are staggering, but the reasons are not.  Apple has produced numerous solid products (multiple iPhones, iPod Touch, iPad) and made them easy enough for just about anyone to use.  Add in the amazing list of applications available from the App Store and you have a product line that will be around for many years to come.

Tablet, Slate, iWhatever Comes Out Today

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I’ll be honest.  Today’s article is coming together as I write this.  Why?  Because I am completely distracted by buzz surrounding today’s big Apple Event.  If you have read my articles before, you might find this a bit odd, considering the entire focus of the JumpstartMyPC.com blog and web site is PC’s.  Regardless, I am excited and here are the reasons why:

New Mac Commercials are Dead On

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

“Windows 7 is here and it’s not going to have any of the problems that Vista had.”  That’s the quote from “PC” in the newest series of Apple commercials aimed at cutting Microsoft and Windows off at the knees.  Starting yesterday, at least 3 new commercials started running regularly over the airwaves.  These new spots are witty, clever and dead on when it comes to calling out the issues that consumers have (or will have) had with upgrading their PC to the latest version of Windows.  I am a PC fan, but I still love these commercials and laugh every time they nail another Windows issue.
